The Worshipful Company of Glovers of London was formed in 1349 by glove makers in London who wished to protect the high standard of their craft and was granted its Royal Charter by King Charles I in 1638.

The Company has developed into a modern organisation maintaining close links with the British glove industry, promoting the wearing of gloves and contributing to many charitable causes, especially City-based charities. We help with the education and training of young people, providing bursaries for students at schools and sponsoring an annual student glove design competition. We support the Mayoralty and the traditions of the City of London.

All of which means that we are now very much part of the modern City and are a lively and purposeful Livery Company for today and building for the future.
