The Master, Clerk and Christine Smith, Chair of the Charity Projects Committee(CPC) were very pleased to attend the Passing-out Parade for the 2025/2026 intake of 13 FANY recruits on Wednesday 3rd June 2026 at the Officers’ Mess, Wellington Barracks, London.

The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry is a British independent all-female registered charity which primarily provides surge relief to civil and military authorities within the UK in an emergency. It was formed in 1907 and was active in both nursing and intelligence work during the World Wars. Currently 73 active members continue to be trained in military skills and watchkeeping, Police national call-handling, resilience, first aid, leadership and teamwork.

The parade was taken by Lt General Sir Tom Copinger-Symes KCB CBE, a reception followed which was attended by Senior FANY personnel, Trustees, proud families and several Livery Companies. The Master Glover presented fine leather gloves to the 13 recruits.

Once the CPC had agreed to support FANY by donating gloves the Master applied his extensive knowledge of leather and glove making to sourcing and procuring the most perfect brown leather gloves.

The recruits are required to fund their own uniforms and were delighted to be presented with gloves from the Worshipful Company of Glovers and noted that they would be particularly appreciated when they attend the National Service of Remembrance Ceremony at the Cenotaph and at the Lord Mayor’s Show which take place the chilly month of November.
