The Worshipful Company of Glovers of London was pleased to install Mike Dodd as new Master Glover on November 4th. The ceremony took place at the Livery Church of St Margaret Lothbury and was followed by a celebratory lunch at Drapers Hall. It was attended not only by members of the Glovers Livery but a number of Masters from other Livery Companies that support the leather trade, as well as other honoured guests.
Mike continues in the footsteps of a long line of Master Glovers dating back to even before the Company’s formal establishment in 1349. He is a true successor to this, having been in the industry primarily with leather company Pittards during his long career.
Mike has been a Liveryman of The Glovers for over 20 years and during his time has always ensured that the UK glove industry has been a key focus for the organisation, along with its work in charity, particularly the goal of charity through gloves; plus supporting the armed forces and cadets.
Commenting on his appointment as Master Mike said “ I am honoured to be leading this extraordinary Livery Company for the coming year, and am delighted my background in the leather and glove industry will be a force for maintaining our links with the trade.”
Mike will be supported during his year by his wife Karyn Stewart-Dodd as Mistress of the Company.
