On 20th June, the Master Daphne Cave and her consort Peter Cave, visited Thames Hospice in Maidenhead, along with CPC acting Chairman Maggie Manwaring and Liveryman Hilary Miller.
They were warmly greeted by Frances Greaney, Thames Hospice Trust and legacy fundraiser. The Hospice moved 18 months ago to their current building, purpose- built, designed for treatments of inpatients and out patients. Frances gave a guided tour explaining the functions of each of the areas. The beautiful grounds outside are also an integral part of the design, restful and calm. During the tour, they were introduced to several members of staff. Two of the Lymphoedema nurses explained how they treated patients and brought along 2 types of gloves which are given to patients, which help reduce swelling in hands and arms, allowing the wearer more dexterity and comfort.
On behalf of the Hospice, Frances thanked the Worshipful Company of Glovers for their support with these specialist gloves which give so much relief.
