On 2nd February 2016 178 members of the Company and their guests gathered at Haberdashers’ Hall for the first formal Livery event of the year and specifically to celebrate the award of the Golden Glove.

The award is only made when a worthy candidate is identifed and is given for innovation in glove design.  But after a lean period 2015/16 threw up 2 most worthy recipients; both coincidently members of the Company. The Award was shared by Liveryman Leslie Blustin of Polyco Ltd and Past Assistant David Bennett of Bennett Safetyware.

On this occasion the tradition of lunching was broken and the Company enjoyed an excellent dinner.  The guest of Honour was Rt Hon Keith Simpson MP who was accompanied by his wife Pepi. The Masters of the Apothocaries, Plaisterers, Cordwainers of York and Fellmongers of Richmond were also present.

The Company’s bursar from King Edwards School Witley, Rudo Dube was present and the Company were delighted to have a Guard of Honour provided by the Company’s recently adopted 467 (Barnet) Unit St John Ambulance Unit. A conversation between one of the cadets and the guest of a Liveryman led to the cadet being offered a week of job experience; an outcome which sits at the core of what the Company seeks to achieve in its relationship with cadets and bursars.
